Bringing Reality into the Classroom for Future Leaders at University of North GA, MBA Class 2019

Jim speaking to MBA students at UNG April 2019.

Jim Solomon, CEO, Chambers Bay Institute and author brought reality into the classroom by sharing his experience as a leader with soon to be graduates of University of North Georgia’s master’s in business administration program, the future leaders in business. He presented several of the principles and methodologies from “Seeing What Isn’t There – A Leader’s Guide to Creating Change in a Complex World”, the latest book authored by Dr Bruce LaRue and he. Using real world examples from the hundreds of leaders that he and his colleague have coached and advised, helped to bring his information to life.

He provided the graduate students insight into how they could become Integrator Leaders following the principles he laid out. And how, by using the Change Integrator© Model, they would learn to lead from the helm rather than the engine room. He shared how they need to escape from the “prison of the known”, to get a strategic look to the future. The students were encouraged to ask themselves and their employees “would you rehire you?”. He explained how he developed his leadership philosophy of “It’s all about We, not Me” as an undergraduate student and member of the Corps of Cadets at UNG.

Dr. Yongseung (Stanley) Han, Ph.D., Professor of Economics, Department of Economics and Finance, Mike Cottrell College of Business, University of North Georgia, said: “Your lecture was inspirational. Students asked me to post your summary on leadership on the D2L, UNG’s online study platform. They, and I, really enjoyed getting some “real” examples from the real experience.”

Students were appreciative of the time he spent with them. They remarked: “I would like to thank you for taking your time to spend with our class last night. I found many items covered helpful as I transition into my new role.” “We truly appreciate you coming to our class to speak tonight. The presentation was eye-opening, informational, and interesting.” “Thanks for taking the time to speak with us.” “Thank you so much for coming and speaking to our class!! I very much enjoyed your presentation – Your message resonated, bringing together much of what we have been studying in our MBA program.”

Jim explained that it was his privilege to speak to future leaders and that he did so because he believes in giving back and that it is the mission of his company, Chambers Bay Institute, to help develop the next generation of capable leader’s.
